Halo Top Ice Cream Review

If you know me, you’ll know that I’m very much into fitness and healthy eating. I go to the gym four or five times a week and by working out it’s always got me thinking about the food that I’m fuelling my body with, what’s the point of putting effort in at the gym then rewarding yourself with crap food?

I count my macros and track how many grams of carbs, fat and protein I have a day. I do however enjoy a treat and at the end of most days, just want a little bit of chocolate to curb my sweet tooth. Tending to opt for a Freddo or a small bar of chocolate, as if you gave me a large bar, I would definitely eat the whole thing in one sitting!

Popping into my local Tesco last Friday, I thought I’d pick something up after work to enjoy that evening after doing some uni work. Strolling down to the frozen aisle, I spotted that Halo Top was on offer, I’ve had the ice cream before and was incredibly impressed! The macros are amazing and range from 280 calories per tub to 360 per tub. It usually retails at £5 per tub, and although I would pay that, it was reduced to £3.50 and I thought, why not pick up a few tubs to enjoy when I want to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Sea Salt Caramel

Firstly, I opted for Sea Salt Caramel, I’m obsessed with anything salted caramel wise and I’d already tried this one before, so knew it was the perfect first choice! I would actually prefer this over Ben & Jerry’s, it’s so flavoursome and knowing it’s not as bad definitely makes it even better!

Cookies & Cream

It was a tough choice between Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Cookies & Cream, I’m also obsessed with cookie dough and anything Oreo related, opting for the latter after having a quick scroll through Halo Tops Instagram feed. I have to say, it wasn’t my favourite flavour but I still enjoyed it and for half of the tub only being 160 calories, it definitely fulfilled my sweet tooth!

Verdict

Out of these two flavours, the Sea Salt Caramel was my favourite, I would like to try the rest but always feel myself drawn back to anything with caramel in. The macros are amazing and you could easily eat a whole tub and for 320 calories you wouldn’t even feel guilty, the only downside is that in half the tub there are 32g of carbs which when I’m on low carb days, won’t work. I however, would highly recommend Halo Top ice cream, it isn’t as tasty as Ben & Jerry’s but then again you can gorge yourself on a tub and not feel guilty, and with fitness being a big part of my life, I enjoy tucking into something sweet and not feeling guilty for eating a whole tub!
