Why 2018 Has Been My Year

It’s the final day of 2018 and how fast has this year gone?! It’s been an incredible year for me and I couldn’t be ending this year on a better note. Although I’ve not travelled a lot this year or attended any festivals and I’m ending another year single, this year has all been about me and making myself happy. I’m so proud of everything I’ve achieved this year and this is why…

New Job

I started off 2018 knowing I had three months left of my previous contract, spending countless hours’ job searching, preparing and going to interviews and failing many times. I finally got the job I’d been waiting for in August, just took eight months! I really enjoy my job and work with incredible people, I even got a promotion three months in and I couldn’t be happier!

Started My Masters

I looked at starting a Masters just after I graduated but decided against it, after being told about the part-time Masters I decided to apply in August, with the course starting a few weeks later, I don’t do things by halves! The course is hard work, I sometimes sit and work thirteen hours a day, but it’s all worth it. I’m one assignment down and about ten left to go…!

Struggling to get a job after graduating and with a lot of experience, I wanted to do something else to further my career. I want to leave and travel the world and I don’t want to be in the same position when I come back, and therefore doing my Masters part-time while working full-time has worked well for me, even though I am exhausted at points!

Why 2018 has been my year

Happy With My Body

Well almost! Body confidence is something I’ve struggled with my whole life, one of my goals of 2018 was to be happy with my body and I’ve learnt to love what I’ve got, because I’m not going to get any better. I work out four to five times a week, getting up at 5am two days a week to fit everything in. I push myself hard and I eat healthy, so I’m ending 2018 being happy with my body. Although I’ve definitely put on a few lbs over Christmas, I can’t wait to get back into the gym in January and start eating healthy again, after all of the Christmas chocolate has been consumed!

Saved Money

Hands up if you’re bad with money? ?‍♀️ I like shopping and booking breaks away so I’ve been able to save, but this year after moving home in 2017 and having a poor year of travel, I’ve managed to save a good amount of money, it’s so nice to know that I’ve got money for emergencies (and in case I NEED a new outfit ?‍♀️) something I’m really proud to have achieved this year.

Paid Off My Car

Louis the Fiat 500 is now officially mine! I’ve spread the finance over three years and although I had to pay a large lump sum at the end, he’s finally mine and I no longer have to set aside money each month to pay him off.

Why 2018 has been my year

Got My Laser Eye Surgery

It was a choice between new eyes and a new car three years ago, I got the car and then it was time for the eyes! I finally got my eyes done this year, something I’ve wanted for so long. It does cost quite a lot, and I wouldn’t have been able to do if I hadn’t started saving. Having my eyes done has changed my life, it’s so nice to not have to worry about wearing glasses or having to put up with dry eyes from contact lenses.

Worked On My Blog

The Adventure To Me was started towards the end of last year, I didn’t do a lot of work on it for the first few months of the year and in August started to put more effort into my blog and my Instagram. I’m really proud of the stuff I’ve produced and the content I’m creating, I can’t wait to work even more on my blog next year and be more consistent.

This year I’ve put myself first and have done everything I’ve wanted to do to better myself; got the job I’d been waiting for, studying for my Masters, saved a good amount of money, paid off my car, got new eyes and I’m finally happy with my body, I couldn’t be ending this year happier than I am now. I’ve worked SO hard and it’s actually paid off for the first time, I’m looking forward to travelling more in 2019, working towards my Masters, kicking my booty into better shape and continuing to put myself first, here’s to what’s been an amazing 2018!
