Why You Should Get A Lash Lift

Lash lift after results
My lash lift with no mascara!

I love giving myself a pamper, in particular my lashes and my brows. I’ve had lash lifts for the last five years, and I wouldn’t look back now!

If you’ve been wondering the process behind the treatment, and the results it could give you, I thought I’d put this blog together on why you should get a lash lift

What Is A Lash Lift?

Basically, a lash lift is a perm for your lashes! The process turns your lashes curled and lifted.

Why Get A Lash Lift?

I have naturally long lashes, but unfortunately, they’re very straight! So, a lash lift completely transforms my eyes. Even if your lashes aren’t the longest, a lift can still make an amazing change.

Lash extensions are an alternative to lash lifts, and it’s something I’ve never opted for. A lot of my friends have lash extensions and have become addicted; however, they’re known for damaging your own lashes, and they’re a lot more expensive than a lash lift and require upkeep which is why I’ve never had them.

What Is The Process?

The treatment usually takes around an hour. The lashes should be free of makeup, so I tend to wear no mascara on the day, but the technician will remove the makeup if you are wearing any.

A silicon mould will be placed on the eyelid, where glue will be used to stick the lashes to the mould (all good for your lashes of course!). Then the lifting lotion (pink) will be applied to your lashes which will stay on for around 15 minutes. This will be wiped off, and the fixing lotion (blue) will be applied for a further 15 minutes. I very nearly fall asleep during both of these stages!

Some lash lifts may not offer a tint, but the ones which I’ve had always do, which will be applied to both the top and bottom lashes.

After the lift you shouldn’t get your lashes wet for 24 hours, this is key as it could affect the results! The longer you allow them to set, the longer the results.

How Much Does It Cost?

This will be completely dependent on where you’re based in the world! Typically it will be between £30 and £45, I’ve paid between these two before living both in Devon and Bristol, so can’t speak for all salons or areas!

How Long Does It Last?

This will be dependent on the person, but usually, they last between six to eight weeks. The upkeep is pretty easy too, as after the 24 hours they’ll be done, and you can continue as usual, like applying mascara.

Where Can I Get It Done?

Many salons will offer this treatment; I’ve been to numerous salons for this treatment.

I currently go to Ria who is based in Nirvana Hair & Beauty in Barnstaple. If you’re from North Devon, then I’d highly recommend booking in with Ria!

If you’re based in Bristol, I’d highly recommend Vikki from I Love Eyebrows; I went to Vikki for my HD brows and lashes while I was at university. She offers LVL lashes which is the treatment from Nouveau Lashes!

It’s always recommended to go to a trained beautician, as the eyes are very delicate so you’d want someone who is fully trained for this treatment in particular. If I’m going somewhere new, I always check reviews online!

I wouldn’t go back now with having lash lifts, I get them done probably every two months, and I always get good results. Although you don’t need to wear mascara, I still apply a few coats, and it really opens my eyes up!

For me, it’s all about lashes and brows. I’ve also had my eyebrows microbladed, which you can read about in my blog here.

Have you had your lashes lifted before? I’d love to see your results!
